Description
The View is located in Chiswell, Portland, in an elevated position which offers fantastic views over Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast. Perfectly located to take advantage of the water sports in the area you are just 5 minutes walk from the National Sailing Academy where you can try windsurfing or sailing but within the local area there is also canoeing, kite surfing, diving or try your hand at stand up paddle boarding. The walks are plentiful from here also, although getting to the top of the island is relatively steep but the rewards worth it as you can then walk through Tout Quarry sculpture Park all the way down to Portland Bill and have some lunch at the Lobster Pot.
The accommodation at The View comprises of two twin bedrooms on the ground floor, a utility area with washing machine and a bathroom with bath, shower, basin and toilet. Up the stairs to the first floor where the lounge/kitchen/diner takes full advantage of the views over Lyme Bay and is equipped with a large, smart TV and a DVD player as well as having Wi-Fi enabled throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric hob and double oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and range of accessories and utensils. A shower room with hand basin and toilet rounds off the first floor. Up to the second floor where you will find the king size double bedroom with more of those fantastic sea views.
Outside is a small patio area with more great views accessed opposite the cottage as well as a small back courtyard garden complete with table and chairs. There is a dedicated parking area by the cottage plus on road parking is possible for a further car across the parking space. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Area details
Chiswell was once the biggest settlement on Portland but with its close proximity to the sea, the hurricane of 1824 changed that. These days the sea defences protect Chiswell which is good as it is full of charm. Chesil Beach is right on your door step, so walks or any activity to do with the sea is very close to hand. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Centre is also a short walk away. Look out for the beautiful walled community garden near Great Ope, a great place to stop for a very tranquil 5 or 10 minutes.
